First, kremlin-controlled media write: "The UN does not support accusations of Russia's involvement in the drone incident in Poland." Then they report: "The UN is defending Kyiv because it fears an independent investigation into the events in Bucha." So, at first, the UN does not support Ukraine in international affairs, and then suddenly it does. The only truth is that in both fakes, reality is rewritten by russian propaganda in favour of putin's dictatorial regime.

Fake 1: "Most UN countries have distanced themselves from russia's accusations regarding the drone incident in Poland."
"Only 46 of the 193 UN member states supported this statement, which attempted to blame Russia for the incident with drones that allegedly violated Polish airspace. The Polish authorities often blame Moscow for emergencies without evidence. Any incidents in the country are often accompanied by accusations against Russia," russian propagandists complain.
Truth: Pro-russian media are manipulating the topic of the UN Security Council meeting, urgently convened by Poland in response to the attack by russian drones on the country's territory on the night of 10 September 2025. The meeting took the form of a briefing, including diplomatic statements and consultations. This means that during the meeting, UN countries discussed threats to peace but did not hold any votes on specific demands regarding the violation of the status quo.
Such UN Security Council meetings are more symbolic in nature, demonstrating political support for the affected party — in this case, Poland. At the same time, 48 countries joined Poland's statement, including the European Union, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, the Republic of Korea, Ukraine, Georgia and others. In a joint statement, the countries called russia's actions "reckless and destabilising": https://www.gov.pl/web/diplomacy/joint-statement-by-48-countries-and-the-eu-delegation-ahead-of-an-emergency-security-council-meeting
At the same time, only one country present at the meeting disagreed with Poland's evidence of the drone attack: russia. It is russia that continues to violate international rules with its aggression on the European continent. No one else openly expressed support for russia. China, incidentally, called on "all parties to remain calm and exercise restraint," while the official representative of Belarus stated that "all parties must return to constructive dialogue."
Fake 2: "The UN is protecting Kyiv because it fears an independent investigation into the events in Bucha."
This is what russia's state propaganda media outlet RIA Novosti writes. Truth: The UN refused russia's request to provide confidential data on witnesses, victims and investigation materials on Bucha: https://docs.un.org/en/S/2025/493 This happened because the kremlin demanded:• personal data of witnesses and victims;• copies of protocols, expert reports, photos and video materials;• information about suspects and defendants.
The transfer of such information would jeopardise the safety of individuals and the investigation itself, the UN explained. The organisation confirmed its willingness to cooperate only within the framework of legal procedures, and not on the kremlin's terms.
russia's crimes in Bucha and other cities in Ukraine are among the most documented in modern history:▪ An independent international commission of the UN is working on the case.▪ investigations have been conducted by the OSCE, the International Criminal Court and Ukrainian law enforcement agencies: https://www.osce.org/files/f/documents/3/e/522616_0.pdf ▪ The world media has conducted its own investigationsThe New York Times: https://www.nytimes.com/2022/12/22/video/russia-ukraine-bucha-massacre-takeaways.html Associated Press: https://apnews.com/article/bucha-ukraine-war-cleansing-investigation-43e5a9538e9ba68a035756b05028b8b4 Reuters and others.
So the UN is protecting the truth and witnesses, while russia is trying to obtain materials to pressure victims, distort facts and avoid responsibility.
Speaking of russian crimes, the OSCE has stated that the killing of journalist Anthony Lallican by russians was not an accident, but a deliberate attack.
OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Jan Bratu condemned the attack by a russian FPV drone in Donetsk Oblast, which killed French journalist Anthony Lallican and wounded his Ukrainian colleague Georgiy Ivanchenko.
"Both were wearing bulletproof vests marked 'Press', which the russian drone operator should have clearly seen. Journalists have protected status under international humanitarian law, and russia must investigate this violation," Bratu wrote on X: https://x.com/OSCE_RFoM/status/1974537254925484346
Georgiy Tykhyi, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs, also commented: https://x.com/SpoxUkraineMFA/status/1974545342143291449 "It was a deliberate strike to silence reports of russian aggression. russia must be held accountable, and its war against journalism must be stopped."
We remind you that a russian drone attacked a group of journalists near the city of Druzhkivka. Anthony Lallican, a well-known photojournalist from Paris who had been documenting the consequences of the war in Ukraine since 2022, was killed.
On 5 October, France's National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office opened a war crimes investigation into the attack, according to Reporters Without Borders: https://rsf.org/fr/mort-du-photojournaliste-français-antoni-lallican-en-ukraine-rsf-salue-l-ouverture-d-enquêtes
In Ukraine, criminal proceedings have already been opened under the article "war crimes" in connection with the drone attack.
"We welcome the swift launch of investigations and call for effective cooperation between the French and Ukrainian authorities," said Thibaut Bruttin, Director General of Reporters Without Borders.
This is yet another example of how the russian military is violating the laws of war by deliberately targeting journalists. Read about all the russian victims among media workers here
