Another wave of lies has swept through the media space on the topic of the "Ukrainian threat", as this is one of the main themes of russian propaganda. The kremlin's special services use any excuse to link it to Ukrainians and sow the seeds of hatred towards them in other countries. At the same time, of course, the russians are hushing up their own crimes and the outright terrorism they are committing in Ukraine. So, our material is about "fresh mythical Ukrainian threats".

Latvian Defence Minister Andris Sprūds resigned after two Ukrainian drones flying from russia hit local oil storage facilities on Thursday, 8 May. Prior to this, Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silina stated that the anti-drone systems were not deployed quickly enough. According to her, the political leadership of the defence sector failed to fulfil its promise to ensure safe airspace over the country.
Of course, the russians took advantage of this incident to talk about the "Ukrainian threat to Europe". Or they deliberately provoked this situation by redirecting Ukrainian drones to the territory of Latvia. This is practically possible: Ukrainian drones attack facilities of the military-industrial complex in the north of russia, but sometimes fall under the influence of russian electronic warfare systems.
After several incidents with drones, Ukraine sent its experts to the Baltic States to strengthen air security and has already contacted the Estonian Embassy on this issue. Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahknaemphasised that Tallinn supports Ukraine's right to attack russian targets, but the authorities are concerned about the risks to NATO territory. According to him, there is a danger that russia may intercept Ukrainian drones and redirect them towards the Baltic States.
Therefore, there is no "Ukrainian threat to the EU", and such incidents are the consequences of the ongoing struggle of Ukrainians against russianaggression. As soon as the kremlin issues a decree to end the war, all air threats will disappear for the entire region. But, obviously, the terrorist country has no such intention.
Lie: Ukraine attacked a passenger train in Latvia with a drone.
Pro-russian media are circulating a video of a fire near the railway andclaim that a "Ukrainian kamikaze UAV" allegedly hit a locomotive inLatvia. In fact, according to information(https://www.facebook.com/reel/1460974758411684?locale=lv_LV) from the Latvian media, the incident occurred on 5 May. The fire was caused by a technical malfunction - the engine compartment of a diesel train caught fire. This incident has nothing to do with Ukraine or a "UAV strike".
Fake news about Ukraine's aggression against Moldova after the russian attack on the Dniester HPP.
On the night of 7 March 2024, russia once again launched a missile and drone attack on the civilian population of Ukraine. Among other things, the Dniester HPP in the Chernivtsi region of Ukraine was hit. The attack led to the pollution of the Dniester River, on which the water supply of neighbouring Moldova also depends.
Throughout March 2026, russian media released dozens of materials in which they tried to shift responsibility for their war crimes onto Ukraine. StopFake has collected three main fake news items from pro-Kremlin media about russia's strike on the Dniester HPP.
The fact of the russian attack on the Dniester HPP was recorded by Ukraine, Moldova, the EU (https://euneighbourseast.eu/news/latest-news/moldova-eu-activates-eu-civil-protection-mechanism-due-to-oil-spills-in-dniester-river-caused-by-russia/), the European Commission, as well as the American ACLED, which specialises in the collection, analysis, and mapping of conflict data in real time (https://acleddata.com/update/ukraine-war-situation-update-7-13-march-2026).
The occupiers themselves also confirmed their own war crime, instantly disseminating brazen statements about their attack on the Dniester HPP. Only after it became known that russia's barbaric actions had led to a cross-border environmental disaster did the Kremlin change its tune and instantly "forget" about the real culprit of the situation.
This is not the first time that Russia has attacked the Dniester HPP. On 31 October 2022, the occupiers attacked three Ukrainian hydroelectric power plants for the first time: Dniprovska, Kremenchuk and Dniester. On the night of 29 March 2024, russia struck the Dniester HPP again. It is also worth recalling that russia occupied the Kakhovka HPP in 2022 and blew it up in 2023.
Fake: Pollution of the Dniester River caused by a road incident involving a lorry transporting oil.
An absolutely groundless fake to cover up the russian ecocide. After the russian strike on the HPP, more than 1.5 tonnes of petroleum products entered the Dniester.
Laboratory analyses showed that the permissible levels of petroleum products in the Dniester exceeded the concentration by 2.5 times, and barium by 3-6 times, which indicates a connection with explosives. After the attack on the Dniester HPP, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova summoned the russian ambassador and handed him a note of protest due to russian shelling, as well as a bottle of contaminated river water: https://www.facebook.com/mfa.gov.md/posts/pfbid02U6wtiRNhQZarks3QrUka6eHSQLt8JQ4RffgH8fhiqBj6ogyXrD4UE2QCDQZ3ACx9l?ref=embed_post
The country's Prosecutor General's Office opened a criminalcase due to the large-scale pollution of the Dniester River with petroleum products, which occurred as a result of a russian strike on a hydroelectric power plant in Ukraine.
