"Illegitimate": Russian propaganda attacks Zelenskyy

May 20, 2024 marks five years since the inauguration of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. For the russian special services, this date has a special significance. After all, they are promoting the narrative that at the end of the five-year term, the president of Ukraine will lose legitimacy and become a "usurper."

"In this way, moscow seeks to sow chaos among Ukraine's allies and raise doubts about the legitimacy of the Ukrainian leadership with the approach of the Global Peace Summit, which will be held on June 15-16 in Switzerland," explained Maksym Vikhrov, an analyst at the Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security.
American intelligence services also report (https://edition.cnn.com/2024/05/15/politics/us-intelligence-russia-disinformation-zelensky/index.html), particularly via CNN, that the number of russian fakes is increasing. According to US intelligence, the kremlin has focused on two main narratives in its disinformation campaign:• withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Avdiivka;• postponement of the presidential elections, which were scheduled for spring this year.
The terrorist country is speculating on the limitations of wartime, when it is impossible to hold democratic elections either technically or economically. And, what is important, these circumstances are written in the Constitution of Ukraine. Therefore, for Ukrainians and true allies, there are no doubts or questions about this. But the kremlin persistently sows the seeds of chaos.
Regarding Zelenskyy, russian propaganda stamps loud epithets and characteristics: "dictator", "usurper", "traitor of his own people", "one who will fight to the last Ukrainian for the sake of his own ambitions". kremlin leaders dream a lot about spoiling Zelenskiy's personal image. There are numerous vulgar caricatures, fabricated photos and videos.
But May 20 will be another disappointment for the russians: they will not see any "people's revolt in Kyiv". In addition, preparations for the summit in Switzerland are proceeding according to plan and will be a logical step towards a just peace, which the whole civilized world deserves, and especially Ukrainians.
We emphasize that these are not "political games", as some journalists try to present in their publications. russia is recognized as a state sponsor of terrorism at the level of the European Union (resolution dated November 23, 2022). russia itself recently held "presidential elections" that were not recognized by any democratic state. Now a special international tribunal is being prepared for all "kremlin politicians" who staged the biggest war in Europe since the Second World War. Where there is a threat to the lives of peaceful people, politics ends - responsibility begins.
Manipulation: Sociology shows that the world trusts Zelenskyy less and less.
Manipulation: The Washington Times newspaper published an article "Trust in the President of Ukraine is falling", in which it was noted that the rating of trust in the President of Ukraine is steadily decreasing in a number of countries. The publication refers to a study by the Pew Research Center.
Truth: a Pew Research poll showed (https://www.pewresearch.org/global/2024/07/02/confidence-in-zelenskyy-and-support-for-ukraine/) mixed results regarding the support of the president of Ukraine in the world.

In fact, in the USA, Canada and a number of Western European countries, half or more of the respondents express confidence in the President of Ukraine.

The lowest level of trust, as noted in the research center, directly depends on the political processes in the countries - in particular, there is a correlation between the level of distrust and support for populist political forces.
