climate crisis
The pro-kremlin media outlet Pravda has published a pseudo-analytical article on global warming and the alleged collusion of leaders of developed countries. The article uses facts about the low temperatures this winter, particularly in the UK, and previous forecasts of the spread of cold across the Gulf of Mexico. The publication also questions such concepts as the ‘climate crisis’, ‘climate science’ and ‘global warming’ itself. But let's take a look at why pro-russian pseudo-experts are using this topic so persistently and what is the kremlin's real interest?
Let's start with a few explanations. Global warming and climate change do not mean that local temperatures are higher than average at a certain time. It means that the global temperature is rising across the planet, and this leads to climate change.
The fact that it can be cold in the UK in winter does not call into question the reality of global warming. Moreover, the temperature on 18 January 2025, when the article was published, was not particularly cold for a European winter.
According to the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S), temperatures across the planet have increased by an average of +1.6°C. 2024 was the warmest year in the multi-faceted global temperature record that dates back to 1850.
