Russia has started a campaign to discredit the 2024 Olympic Games

Olympic Games 2024, Russian propaganda, partners of Olympics

The number of materials (including fakes) about the upcoming Olympic Games in a negative context is increasing in the network. As a rule, the source is social networks X, Tik-tok, as well as Russian and pro-Russian media. In this way, Russia wants to take revenge for not allowing its athletes to the Olympics. The key slogan of Russia: "Sports outside of politics." Is it true?

In relation to Russia, definitely not. All Russian sports are financed either by the state or by private structures controlled by the Kremlin (remember, freedom of choice does not exist in Russia as such). Accordingly, all athletes who remained in Russia covertly or openly support state policy, some of them openly help armed groups. There are even many cases when professional athletes personally take up weapons and go to kill Ukrainians on their lands. We should also not forget about the powerful "central sports club of the army", which trains athletes (including Olympic sports) throughout the country.
Now about the fakes regarding the Olympics, which our colleagues from Spravdi.ua have already exposed.
Fake 1 - sponsors refuse to support the Olympic Games in France. The Russians edited a video story on behalf of the French TV channel TF1 (simply added the logo of the TV channel) about the fact that such brands as Spotify, Lego and Hochland disappeared from the list of partners on the official website of the Olympics. But the truth is that they were never there.
Fake 2 - the statement of the former Minister of Economy of FranceFormer French economy minister Jean-Louis Borloo compared the Olympic Games to a gypsy camp. Video excerpts of the ex-minister's interview were simply diluted with a false quote, as well as a corresponding video sequence. It looks shameful.
Fake 3 – French mass media faced strict censorshipRussian propaganda claims that all journalistic material in France is subjected to severe censorship to hide "big problems with the organization". Another edited video clip (this time on behalf of the BBC) and the story that Bellingcat conducted its own investigation and received evidence of pressure on journalists. On the official website of Bellingcat, of course, there is not a word about this story. As in real BBC stories.
Fake 4 - France has suspended all Muslim police officers from escorting the Olympic torch relayThis year, the French government has indeed taken unprecedented security measures due to possible threats. However, the information that policemen who profess to be Muslims were suspended from escorting the Olympic torch relay is not true. The video with the symbols of the French news channel TF1 is the only source of the fake message. However, TF1 has never posted such a video on social media or website. StopFake journalists found out that propagandists used photos and videos from events, some of which have nothing to do with the relay, to create the fake video. For example, an archival interview with Nicolas Lerner, former head of the General Directorate of Internal Security of the French Ministry of Internal Affairs, for students of the Institute for Advanced Studies of National Defense, filmed in February 2021.
