Zelenskyy trump. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. war in ukraine. russia against ukraine

russian media report that Donald Trump wanted a ceasefire in Ukraine and, through Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, offered Zelenskyy a truce for the Christmas holidays and a prisoner exchange. The propagandists refer to an adviser to the former president of Ukraine (Leonid Kuchma, the second president of Ukraine), Oleg Soskin, who allegedly has ‘secret information’.

The truth: Oleg Soskin, a ‘blogger’, is known for unsubstantiated statements that often coincide with russian propaganda narratives. He repeats the kremlin's narrative that moscow is ‘ready for a peaceful settlement, while Kyiv wants to fight to the last Ukrainian’. Currently, the kremlin offers Ukraine nothing but surrender on putin's terms. These are the ideas promoted by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban: a ceasefire and further freezing of the conflict along the contact line, territorial concessions to Ukraine, easing of sanctions against russia and a comprehensive dialogue with the kremlin. However, there is no evidence that the ideas voiced by Orban are supported or proposed by the new US president.
Ukrainians, more than anyone else, want peace, as they are suffering significant losses and destruction. However, it must be a stable peace, protected by effective security guarantees for Ukraine. To achieve such a peace, Ukraine and its international allies must force moscow to abandon ultimatums and move to adequate diplomacy.
