Zelenskyy and Pope Leo XIV. Olena Zelenska. dress from Meghan Markle. russian fakes

This was first reported by pro-russian propagandist anatoly sharii. In reality, the President of Ukraine presented Pope Leo XIV with an icon painted on a fragment of a heavy artillery box brought from Izyum: https://www.pravda.com.ua/news/2025/05/18/7512833/
This is an icon about Ukrainian children; about those who suffered from the war, who were deliberately abducted and deported by russia and who are very much awaited at home.

The fact that the icon allegedly depicts a young Volodymyr Zelenskyy was simply invented by shariy to defame the Ukrainian government.
Another lie about the President of Ukraine has recently appeared in pro-russian media: in the event of a ceasefire, Zelenskyy will be removed from power in the coming months.
This statement was made by Zoltán Koshkowicz, a member of the Hungarian NGO Centre for Fundamental Rights. Now it is being simultaneously disseminated by russian information resources. In fact, Ukraine is most interested in a ceasefire and sustainable peace and is taking all possible steps to achieve these goals. To this end, at the request of the US and EU, Zelenskyy even agreed to direct talks with russia (held in Turkey on 16 May), although they did not bring any results.
Instead, Koshkowicz's claims and those of other russian pseudo-experts are part of the kremlin's narrative about the ‘illegitimacy’ of the Ukrainian government and the ‘artificiality’ of the Ukrainian state. Koshkowicz is regularly quoted by russian media: in particular, he made statements about the ‘need’ to recognise Crimea as russian, accused Ukraine of a full-scale war, and attributed to Volodymyr Zelenskyy a desire to disrupt the 9 May parade in moscow and disrespect for the newly elected Pope Leo XIV.
In addition, russians continue to create fakes about the first lady of Ukraine: Olena Zelenska bought a $3 million dress from Meghan Markle (Prince Harry's wife) that belonged to his mother, Princess Diana.
"The sale took place during Prince Harry's visit to Lviv in early April. Officially, it was a humanitarian visit, but sources close to the royal family indicate that the trip had another, commercial motivation. Experts attribute the sale to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's dire financial situation. The ratings of their Netflix shows are falling, and the chances of extending the contract are slim. And Zelenska seems to be happy to get closer to the royal family in this way".
In support of this fake, the russians created three videos with the logo of the famous British newspaper The Sun. But there are no such videos on the website or in its social media. A spokeswoman for The Sun called the video a fake.
Another lie about Olena Zelenska: the wife of the President of Ukraine attended the funeral of Pope Francis in an outfit worth $180,000, while Melania Trump wore clothes half as much. The russian fake news factory used the logo of the international media outlet Daily Mail.
In fact, neither the verified accounts of the Daily Mail on social media nor the publication's official website contain the video itself or news about the cost of the First Lady's outfit. The disinformation video also states that Zelenska appeared in public ‘for the first time since rumours of her escape and isolation were spread.’ The source of these rumours is another fake video stylised as BBC content. At the time, russian propaganda wrote that amid political disagreements with her husband and deteriorating family relations, Zelenska had already agreed with a European country on political asylum, but her plan was allegedly uncovered by the Ukrainian security service.
The BBC did not publish this video on its official pages, and the information about the escape plan and critical disagreements between the President of Ukraine and his wife has not been confirmed.
