russian media report that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is allegedly going to buy uranium from Niger to create nuclear weapons. The kremlin's disinformers have invented that in November 2023, a Ukrainian delegation led by the Minister of Defence of Ukraine allegedly visited Niger to sign a uranium purchase agreement with the French company Orano, which is engaged in uranium mining in the mines of this African country.

This disinformation was launched with the help of African media and has no factual evidence. Firstly, in November 2023, Ukraine's Defence Minister Rustem Umerov did not visit the African continent, and therefore did not sign any contracts. Secondly, the French nuclear fuel producer Orano, with whom the Ukrainians allegedly negotiated, lost its uranium mining licence in Niger following political changes in the country. At the same time, the kremlin regularly threatens Ukraine and its allies with the use of its own nuclear weapons, demonstration exercises of the military with a nuclear component, the transfer of nuclear weapons to Belarus, and is strengthening cooperation in this area with north korea and iran.
