president of Mexico, Claudia Scheinbaum, russian fake, fakes from X
"If I wanted to look at a drug addict, I would take a walk in Tijuana" - this is how the newly elected president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, allegedly commented on her refusal to visit Ukraine. Such news was spread by a number of pro-russian accounts on the X network. The news received significant coverage, one of the publications of user X was shared more than 1.8 thousand times.
However, this news is fake. It was first spread by the X (Twitter) account of Olga Bazova, which has a distinctly pro-russian orientation, although the description of this profile states: "Specializing in humorous geopolitical analytics, exposing hypocrisy and satire." In response to her own post, the author of the account even noted that it was a joke and the president of Mexico did not make such statements. However, the context of the message was quickly lost, and therefore a large part of the audience took the statement exactly as the creators of fakes wanted.
The newly elected president of Mexico, Claudia Scheinbaum, did reject an invitation to visit Ukraine. However, she explained this by the fact that she does not plan to travel a lot in her position, because she wants to focus on the domestic political situation, and therefore will attend only the most important international events.
