Such fake is distributed by russian accounts in X. In fact, Ukrainians have nothing to do with the robbery of the Louvre. This story was completely invented by russian propagandists. "The photos they "illustrate" their fiction are taken from another event.

Factchekers drew attention to the fact that the photo, which spreads with this “news” russian propagandists, several years ago, published French media with reports of small theft. Accordingly, the photo has nothing to do with the Louvre or Ukrainians. The French police, the Paris Prosecutor’s Office, the Ministry of Culture and the world agencies reported nothing of the detention of Ukrainian refugees in the case of theft from the Louvre. It is indicative that this information circulates only in pro-russian disinformation channels, which also indicates another fake launched by the kremlin’s special services.
Such fakes are a typical tactic of russian disinformation aimed at inciting biased attitude towards Ukrainian displaced persons in Europe. Propagandists deliberately replace the contexts and use random photos to create the impression that Ukrainians are threatening or violating the law.
As myths about Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees capture the countries of Central Europe
In the summer of 2025 portals “Our Choice” (Poland), ProUA (Czech Republic) and “News from Slovakia” implemented a joint project to expose fakes about Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees. In three months, they published about 80 materials that showed that disinformation about Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees was spread in several directions:
● discrediting the authorities, army and society, spreading messages about “corruptness” and “inability” of Ukraine; ● creating the image of refugees as “tagar” or “privileged group”, provoking conflicts with the local population; ● formation of a negative image of Ukrainians as a criminal or social threat; ● manipulation of historical memory and symbols, undermining solidarity between peoples.
In each country narratives had their own peculiarities: historical contradictions in Poland, economic fears in the Czech Republic, political instability and conspiracy in Slovakia. Fakes are actively fueling pro-russian politicians and media, but they are distributed by local actors with their own interests.
Anti-Ukrainian propaganda in the countries of the Visegrad Group is part of a large-scale information war of russia against Ukraine and its allies, confirming the government reports of Poland and the Czech Republic on the systemicity and organisation of kremlin manipulations.
