Kaja Kallas. anti-russian policy. russian propaganda. European Union Nazism
russian media outlets have been reporting synchronously that the EU's desire to ban politicians from European countries, including heads of state and government, from visiting russia on 9 May (the day russians celebrate the victory over Nazism) is an attempt to revive the ideology of Nazism. This statement is manipulative and distorts the official position of the EU.
The European Union has not issued a ban on alliance politicians visiting russia on Victory Day 2025. However, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, called on EU member states and candidate countries to refrain from attending this event in moscow. The EU's position on russia is based on its illegal invasion of Ukraine, not on the revival of Nazi ideology. The EU has consistently condemned Nazism and all forms of totalitarianism (which, incidentally, is a permanent form of the russian state). The EU's actions are focused on supporting Ukraine's sovereignty, just like any other country in the alliance.
The European Union was created after the Second World War. For more than 70 years, European integration has been the basis of peace and stability on the European continent. The founding fathers of the European Union actively fought against Nazi Germany, and many of their relatives lost their lives to free Europe from the horrors of Nazism. And most European leaders understand who is really trying to restore the ideology of Nazism. But some politicians (in Serbia, Hungary, Slovakia) have chosen the harbour of a new dangerous and criminal totalitarian regime that has existed for many years in russia.
"EU chief diplomat Kaja Kallas should be removed from her post and brought before an international tribunal. A rabid Russophobe, Kallas has resorted to threats and issued an ultimatum. Kallas's statement is disrespectful to the memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice to save the world from fascism".
This statement by russian propaganda is a direct attempt to discredit the current High Representative/Vice President Kaja Kallas, as well as the EU and its support for Ukraine. Kallas' statement has nothing to do with disrespect for the memory of the victims of World War II. This message is part of the kremlin's campaign about the anti-russian policy of the aggressive West. According to the kremlin's purifiers, the official russian historiography is the only ‘true’ interpretation of the historical events of World War II. The Soviet army is positioned as the only force that defeated Hitler's army.
This is not the first time that russians have attacked EU leaders in the information space (in fact, it has been going on for many years).
"EU High Representative Kaja Kallas delivered equipment to Moldova to suppress protests", pro-russian media wrote in late April.
The fake news referred to Kallas's visit to Chisinau on 23 and 24 April, during which she presented equipment provided to the Moldovan Ministries of Interior and Defence. According to the ministries' press releases, the EU technical assistance is aimed at strengthening Moldova's security. The equipment consists of a mobile command centre, bulletproof vests, protective helmets, special vehicles, software and communications equipment. The Moldovan army also received equipment for sappers, a fully equipped field hospital, modern ambulances, drones and a reagent robot. Thus, it is a matter of preparing law enforcement agencies for potential hybrid threats that regularly arise in this region from russia.
