Fake: Russian wheat will "save" the EU from crop failure and famine

Against the background of the end of the grain harvest, the russian mass media began to spread misinformation about "hungry Europe". In some materials, it is stated that "this season in European countries, there is a catastrophic grain failure due to sanctions against russia." The propagandists concluded that against the background of "famine in Europe" russia has now become "the guarantor of the food security of the EU".

Truth: There is no threat of famine in the EU. The level of decline in grain production in European countries is not at all catastrophic, as it decreased by only 3.9% compared to the average indicator. The fall in grain yields was caused by adverse weather conditions in the spring and summer of 2024 and is observed all over the world, including in russia itself, where wheat production fell by 10% compared to the previous season.
The kremlin's fake factory manipulates data. According to the data of the European Commission, published at the end of September 2024, due to unfavorable weather conditions, the total volume of grain production in the EU is forecast at the level of 269.9 million tons. This is only 3.9% below the average. On the other hand, in russia, according to the October report of the US Department of Agriculture, wheat production fell by as much as 10% compared to last season. Propagandists consciously do not provide data on russian grain crops, focusing only on the fall in yields in European countries.
Also, the russian mass media deliberately keep quiet that the top three exporters of grain in the world are not only russia. The European Union and Ukraine are also among the world's largest producers and exporters of agricultural products, playing an important role in supplying oil and grain crops to the world market.
Russia is trying to destabilize the world food market by all criminal methods. In addition to disinformation campaigns, the kremlin has been robbing local residents in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine since 2022, taking a significant part of the grain harvest to then resell it to other countries (according to the Ministry of Agrarian Industry of Ukraine, the amount of stolen crops exceeded 4 million tons worth more than 6 billion dollars). And, of course, regular attacks (missiles and drones) on the "Grain Corridor" agreed with the UN. The targets of these attacks are civilian international vessels and the port infrastructure of Ukraine to ensure the operation of the "Grain Corridor" and the supply of critical food products around the world.
