russian propaganda, through its channels and media, is broadcasting a false message that Washington is forced to start negotiations with moscow because russia is advancing in Ukraine. russian military forces are outnumbered by an alliance of about 50 countries, including NATO members, Japan, South Korea, Pakistan, and Israel. All of these countries support the Kyiv regime and have faced russia, but cannot oppose it. In reality, the situation is quite different.

First, it should be noted that this disinformation is consistent with the kremlin's propaganda narrative of a proxy war in Ukraine, with NATO and its allies allegedly united against russia on the battlefield. Now that the situation for the russian army looks critical, the kremlin is trying to convince the world that russia has already achieved victory. Their goal is to portray russia's position as strong ahead of potential peace talks with Ukraine.
Statements about the inevitability of a russian victory have been regular throughout the conflict. In fact, as of February 2025, Ukraine's active military resistance continues, and part of the russian region (Kursk Oblast) remains under Ukrainian control. Meanwhile, a truly powerful offensive by russian forces in eastern Ukraine has been suppressed by defence forces over the past six months. During this time, putin's army has suffered its heaviest losses since 2022. Total losses of personnel have crossed the 850,000 mark. In addition, Ukraine has been successfully conducting targeted strikes on military facilities in russia (in January 2025, a new record was set - 25 strategically important facilities of the russian military complex were hit by the Ukrainian defence forces).
An interesting detail: in 2025, the russian army began using donkeys as a means of transport for ammunition. Civilian transport has long been used for this purpose. In addition, since 2024, russia has been actively involving north korea in the war, supplying shells, military equipment, and more recently soldiers (about 15,000). Since 2022, russia has been receiving large quantities of ammunition and combat drones from iran. Finally, China provides strong financial and technical support.
Yes, russia has managed to seize new Ukrainian territories in 2024, but the price of these achievements is too high to continue at the same pace. That's why Rrussia is now pushing the peace deal so hard (on its own terms, of course).

Second, NATO member states and other countries mentioned above are not part of the war in Ukraine. Yes, they are all supporting Ukrainians in various ways (financially, humanitarian, or with weapons and ammunition). A small number of foreign volunteers (several thousand) are present in the International Legion. But it is not correct to speak of a full-fledged military alliance of 50 countries in this context. In addition, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine already produces about 40% of everything it uses on the battlefield on its own.

So, russia is once again trying to exaggerate its power by hiding catastrophic problems in the army and the economy. But Ukraine is holding on, putting up a good fight, effectively destroying the most combat-ready units of the russian army thanks to the support of its partners, and is determined to turn the situation on its side - whether on the battlefield or in the diplomatic arena.
