In fact, the French leader called for a major European reset. In his speech, he stated that he would approach European allies with the idea of using France's nuclear deterrent to protect the entire continent in the face of threats from russia. He described russia as ‘a threat to France and Europe as a whole’ and called on his partners to update and strengthen their defence systems against external threats.
It should be noted that the European Union and France in particular have consistently supported a just and lasting peace based on international law and Ukraine's sovereignty. All the actions of European leaders are an adequate response to russia's continuous and brutal aggression against Ukraine, as well as to direct threats by kremlin officials to European countries, including France. 
In addition, kremlin propaganda systematically promotes the narrative that the EU is preparing to attack russia. Allegedly, a separate programme of additional armaments for the armies of European countries worth 800 billion euros is being created for this very purpose. In fact, the purpose of this programme is to defend the EU, not to attack russia. "The programme aims to ensure Europe's self-defence capabilities. The new financial plan should increase funding and upgrade the continent's military-industrial complex," the document says.

In addition, russian propaganda has recently used the story of French opposition leader Marine Le Pen to accuse Emanuel Macron of usurping power. In this way, the kremlin reinforces its narrative that the EU is dominated by anti-democratic forces that seek to escalate the military confrontation with moscow.

Any calls by individual politicians to cooperate with russia, a terrorist state, aggressor state, disinformation state, are a direct threat to democracy and freedom on any continent.
