Pro-russian propagandists are stepping up their efforts to denigrate the Summer Olympics in Paris and undermine Western support for Ukraine through a series of brazen online and offline stunts, according to CNN's own investigation.

Using artificial intelligence to voice actor Tom Cruise speaking in a fake documentary about an attack on the International Olympic Committee (IOC). As well as placing a coffin near the Eiffel Tower with an inscription about the war in Ukraine. All these are links of one chain.
Experts tracking russian disinformation told CNN that the activity is part of a larger effort by russian intelligence services to tarnish the Olympics and stop any momentum helping Ukraine repel an attack by russian forces. We will remind that the IOC imposed restrictions on the participation of russian athletes in the Olympics in Paris due to russia's armed aggression against Ukraine.
According to the findings of Microsoft analysts, russian special services used a fake voice of Cruise, a Netflix logo and even a fake New York Times review to try to give legitimacy to the documentary.
russian propagandists are also creating fake news stories claiming Parisians are buying property insurance because of terrorism fears around the Olympics, as well as fake press releases from the CIA and French intelligence warning of terrorism.
On Saturday, June 1, French police discovered five coffins near the Eiffel Tower with a French flag with the inscription "French soldiers in Ukraine". A French military official told CNN there was a possible link between the kremlin's secret services and the incident. French police are questioning three men as part of the investigation. This is similar to the reaction of the russians to the statements of President Emmanuel Macron about the possible participation of the French military in missions in Ukraine.
In recent days, pro-russian social media accounts have also shared a fake video of US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller commenting on Ukraine's potential use of American-made weapons on russian territory. According to screenshots taken by a BBC journalist, the russian Embassy in South Africa posted a version of the video on their X accounts.
russia's antagonism towards the IOC has been building for years. The IOC has banned russian athletes from officially competing under the russian flag in Paris due to the Kremlin's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. And earlier, russian athletes faced similar restrictions at the last Olympic Games due to violations of the doping program.
When russia does not have adequate and legitimate arguments, it simply inflicts damage in response by any means. russia today...
