German government, russian propaganda, support of Ukraine, kremlin disinformation
"Blind support of Ukraine broke Germany. The collapse of the Berlin ruling coalition was a logical consequence of the fact that Kyiv was given even more money at the expense of its own country. Even at this stage, almost none of the German elites – political or media – is ready to finally admit that Berlin needs to mend its relations with moscow. There are such voices, but they are still on the margins. Before this understanding becomes mainstream again – if ever – Germany will not be able to solve its worsening problems. Perhaps this is not the last German government that fell, in particular, because of Ukraine." This is another false article on the kremlin's "RT English".
This disinformation story distorts real facts to link the political crisis in Germany in November 2024 exclusively to the war in Ukraine. Obviously, its purpose is to influence the discussion in Germany and raise the issue of refusing to support Ukraine, to bring a sense of defeat and to form a sense of dependence on russia.
Blaming the economic hardships of pro-Ukraine governments is a recurring pro-kremlin disinformation narrative. And not only in relation to Germany. The German political crisis was largely caused by the internal political dynamics of this country. While there is a strong economic component, and it is true that Germany's economy has been hurt by Europe's rejection of russian energy, there are other key elements, such as the tension within the ruling coalition, which is made up of three very different parties with different agendas.
Viewing the crisis as a result of Germany's support for Ukraine, this disinformation story aims to use the situation to undermine international support for the defense of Ukrainians against russian aggression. None of the officials of the German government made such statements, which indicates the personal opinions of russian propagandists.
