"The Ukrainian military command is indifferent to the fate of both Ukrainian and foreign fighters, who are simply considered expendable", russian propagandists attribute these words to an unknown Englishman who was allegedly captured by russian soldiers.

The truth: The Englishman's ‘confession’ is staged in the best traditions of kremlin propaganda - no rank, no precise information on where he came from, how he got into the Ukrainian armed forces. It is worth noting that fake ‘confessions’, in particular those of prisoners of war, are a favourite technique of russian propaganda, which uses pressure and threats to force people to voice the right messages to record the desired ‘picture’. Or they entrust this task to semi-professional actors. So far, neither the Ukrainian nor the British side has been able to identify the ‘Englishman’ and his involvement in the Ukrainian armed forces.
As for Ukraine's ‘indifference’: according to President Zelenskyy, in 2024 alone, 1,358 people - military and civilians - were returned home from russian captivity. Among them are also foreigners who fought on the side of Ukraine. In addition, it is Ukraine that constantly insists on the ‘all-for-all’ exchange formula, which the kremlin rejects. Obviously, for the putin regime, the country's citizens are not valuable.
The purpose of the kremlin's cheap staging is to discourage volunteers from joining the International Legion in Ukraine and to discredit the country's top military and political leadership.
