Kremlin propaganda, russians at War, Russian peace, Anastasia Trofimova, film festival in Toronto

The documentary film "russians at War" is "subtle propaganda" and legitimization of the crimes of the russian military. It was filmed by Anastasia Trofimova, a former employee of the "russia Today" media holding, who now has Canadian citizenship. The film was financed by the Canadian Media Fund (CMF) on behalf of the Ontario public broadcaster TVO. The federal agency allocated 340 thousand Canadian dollars for the creation of the film. The film has already been shown at the Venice Film Festival, and the next one will be the Toronto International Film Festival. It seems that the cultural community is losing its dignity.

Trofimova's film was shown at the international Venice Film Festival on September 5. However, the Ukrainian film community sharply criticized the screening of the propaganda film in Venice. In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reacted to the film. The agency condemned Prime Minister Trofimova and asked her Canadian colleagues to cancel the screening of "russians at War" in Toronto.
The management of the film festival in Toronto said that screenings of the film, as planned, will still take place. The official position of the festival organizers: "The tape was created under the official joint production of Canada and France with Canadian funding at the provincial and federal levels without the knowledge or participation of any Russian state bodies. In our opinion, in no case can this film be considered Russian propaganda. As a cultural institution, TIFF advocates the right of artists, workers and cultural workers to freely express fair political comments and oppose censorship. So TIFF tries to provide a space, based on democratic values, with the opportunity to interact, express criticism and reflect on the work of artists."
At the same time, the CMF stated that they are aware of the indignation of the Canadian Congress of Ukrainians (CCU) and official representatives of Ukraine. They discussed this situation with TIFF and the film's producers. After the appeal of the CCU, the regional broadcaster TVO, which financed the film, refused to show Trofimova's film. In addition, the Canadian side initiated an investigation into the selection of a propaganda film project for funding.
But these efforts are clearly not enough. Because putin's French friends are already preparing another documentary about the "Russian peace" and the "liberation of the Luhansk region" from normal life under the flag of Ukraine - that is, about the criminal occupation. The representative of the so-called "French club of moscow" Karin Beshe-golovko said that Luhansk has become the face of the "russian world" for foreigners. The authors are going to spend hundreds of thousands more, most likely European money, to show everyone how normal it is to occupy foreign territories, force people to adopt different citizenships, laws, and at the same time make them new slaves of the kremlin without any rights and decent living conditions.
We remind you time and time again that propaganda is critically important for the legitimization of putin's criminal regime and attempts to establish long-term control over the occupied territories. Therefore, in the kremlin, everyone who did not happen in the civilized world is involved in this dirty business. In this case, these are representatives of the russian diaspora in Canada and a French fringe club without a name and history.
Importantly!

The tape "russians at war" justifies russian aggression and occupation of the territory of Ukraine, promotes kremlin narratives to a wide audience.
Trofimova's film distorts or silences facts that are inconvenient for the kremlin and cannot be considered objective.
This is an attempt to whiten the reputation of the russian invaders, who stained themselves with bloody war crimes. The tape tries to evoke empathy, pity and solidarity with the killers.
The director of the film, Trofimova, pretends to be neutral, objective and even "oppositional" in order to win the trust of the Western audience. This is a typical method of "subtle propaganda".

We call on everyone to boycott the film and demand its ban on all international cultural platforms, as well as other products of Russian propaganda.
UPD: The directorate of TIFF nevertheless took into account the protests of the public and canceled the screening of the film about the russians in the war.
