In addition to overtly xenophobic outlets like RT or Sputnik, the kremlin often promotes its narratives through platforms that look almost like ordinary international media. One such platform is TV BRICS. The network was created in 2017 on the initiative of dictator putin, with headquarters located in moscow. The platform itself positions itself as a tool for content exchange between media outlets of BRICS+ countries.

An analysis of TV BRICS content demonstrates how this model works. The channel's core consists of documentaries and news about the economy, science, culture, and cooperation among BRICS countries. It is precisely between such videos that interviews with russian propagandists and politicians promoting the putin regime's narratives regularly appear.  
The official website operates in six languages simultaneously—English, Chinese, Portuguese, Spanish, Arabic, and russian. This allows the same content to be distributed far beyond Russia and adapted for audiences in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and other regions.  
A distinct tool of influence is the free exchange of content with foreign media. As a result, segments produced in moscow enter the broadcasts of foreign television channels as partner materials rather than as production from russian state media.  
This is why TV BRICS is called a tool of russian "soft power." Its objective is not to convince with a single story, but to gradually shape the worldview needed by the kremlin through media that, at first glance, have nothing to do with propaganda. Now, let's take a look at what TV BRICS reports on. 
Fake: "russia has never interfered in the internal affairs of other states, including the 2016 US presidential election—all American investigations supposedly confirmed this."
Pro-russian media quote [utin's press secretary, dmitriy peskov. In reality: peskov distorts the results of official US investigations. In 2017, US intelligence agencies concluded that russia carried out a large-scale interference campaign in the presidential election—through cyberattacks, hacking Democratic Party emails, and spreading online disinformation.  
In 2020, a US Senate investigation confirmed these findings. Special Counsel Robert Mueller also established that russia attempted to influence the electoral process. As part of that investigation, charges were brought against 12 russian hackers from the kremlin's Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU). 
Overall, this assertion by peskov contradicts numerous documented facts. Here are just a few:▪ Ukraine: The occupation of Crimea and armed intervention in Donbas in 2014;▪ France: A cyberattack on Emmanuel Macron's campaign headquarters in 2017;▪ Germany: A hacker attack on the Bundestag in 2015;▪ Montenegro: An attempted coup d'état in 2016 aimed at disrupting the country's accession to NATO.  
Top 5 False Statements by putin in an Interview.
During another interview with a lapdog propagandist, the Russian dictator voiced a series of manipulative and false statements about the war against Ukraine.  
Lie #1: "Ukraine is attacking civilian infrastructure to force russia into negotiations."Ukraine strikes military targets, logistics hubs, airfields, ammunition depots, oil refineries, and other targets that sustain the Russian war machine. It is russia that has been systematically shelling Ukraine's civilian infrastructure since 2022, a fact thoroughly documented by international organizations.  
Lie #2: "russia is successfully advancing in all directions."The pace of the russian offensive remains low, and along many sections of the front, the advance has effectively stalled. Claims of large-scale "successes" are not supported by independent battlefield maps, including those from ISW.  
Lie #3: "Less than 10 km remain to Sumy."According to DeepState, the distance from russian positions to the outskirts of Sumy is nearly 18 km. Similarly false were putin's claims regarding the alleged proximity of russian troops to Sloviansk.  
Lie #4: "The AFU is nearly surrounded near Stary Oskol." Stary Oskol is a city in the Belgorod Region of russia. Putin likely confused it with the Oskil River, demonstrating once again how detached his statements are from reality.  
Lie #5: "russia is open to negotiations."The kremlin simultaneously claims "readiness for dialogue" while continuing to issue ultimatums, conduct offensive actions, and launch daily strikes on Ukrainian cities. Such rhetoric is part of an information campaign, not evidence of genuine readiness to cease aggression.  
Occupiers Turn Schools into Military Bases. 
In the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, the russian military chooses educational institutions as stationing points for troops: schools, university dormitories, and similar facilities. The use of educational facilities for military purposes is a violation of humanitarian law. At the same time, such actions turn these buildings into legitimate military targets.  
Furthermore, the russians are carrying out a systematic policy of militarizing youth and teenagers. This is being conducted, in particular, by the organization "Center for Military-Sports Training and Patriotic Education 'Warrior' ('Voin')". In occupied Luhansk, a branch of the Center opened on April 1, 2024, on the premises of the Luhansk Auto Service College. Cadets include boys and girls aged 14 and older. They undergo general military training and learn to pilot and assemble drones. Similar projects were later launched in other regions close to the combat zone.  
kremlin's "Tribunal" Against Ukraine: Fake Experts, Propagandists, and Fugitives from Justice.
While 36 states and the EU are working to establish a Special Tribunal for the crime of aggression by the russian Federation against Ukraine, the kremlin is promoting its own alternative—the so-called "International Public Tribunal on the Crimes of Ukrainian Neo-Nazis."  
This structure has no international mandate, legal force, or independence. It was created just days after the start of russia's full-scale invasion, and the project is curated by the russian propaganda machine, reports The Insider: https://theins.press/en/inv/293369 
The membership of the pseudo-tribunal includes not international human rights defenders or reputable legal scholars, but primarily russian propagandists, pro-kremlin activists, individuals facing criminal charges, and foreigners who have worked for years on russian information campaigns.  
The head of the entity is russian propagandist Maxim Grigoryev, known for his books on "Ukraine's crimes" and justifications of russian aggression. According to investigative journalists, the foundation for his "evidence" often consists of unverified testimony from pro-russian residents of occupied territories.  
Among the so-called "international experts" are individuals facing legal trouble in their home countries. Specifically, American John Dougan, who faces over two dozen charges in the US, and Charles Bausman—a far-right activist linked to American neo-Nazi circles.  
Former Ukrainian politicians and media personalities who fled to russia and openly work for the Kremlin are also involved in the pseudo-tribunal's activities. Among them are Rodion Miroshnik and Yuriy Kot.  
This entity completely ignores the documented war crimes of the russian army in Ukraine. The emergence of such a "tribunal" demonstrates the kremlin's attempt to create an information alternative to the real international accountability mechanism for aggression against Ukraine and to discredit the future Special Tribunal in The Hague.  
What TV BRICS won't show…
russia is removing Ukrainian children from occupied territories to North Korea for ideological "re-education."

Among them are a 12-year-old boy from occupied Makiivka and a 16-year-old girl from occupied Simferopol who ended up on the trip through pro-russian contests and organizations. The children participated in propaganda activities: writing letters of thanks to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, cleaning monuments to North Korean leaders, listening to ideological lectures, and playing politized games with violent themes. russian and North Korean propaganda was systematically promoted at the camp, including anti-Western and military narratives.  
Human rights advocate Kateryna Rashevska notes that russia disguises such trips as "cultural exchanges," but in essence, they are an instrument of political propaganda prohibited by international law. The goal is to build loyalty among children toward the aggressor state and its allies, including the DPRK, which is a co-conspirator in the war against Ukraine. The ideological influence on children from occupied territories has long-term consequences. Imposing a distorted worldview, normalizing aggression, and justifying war constitute a form of violence against children and yet another war crime by russia.  
russia disguises military procurement as "humanitarian aid": drones, EW systems, and Starlink reach the military through Mosfilm and museums.
An investigation by Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty (Radio Svoboda) revealed that russian drones, electronic warfare (EW) systems, communication equipment, and other military gear reach the army through cultural institutions—russia's largest film studio Mosfilm and state museums in the Leningrad Region: https://www.radiosvoboda.org/a/mosfilm-drony-reb-viyna/33598496.html A special russian government decree in 2022 allowed regions to purchase dual-use goods for the army. This mechanism remains active and enables military procurement to be masked.  
Mosfilm, led by Karen Shakhnazarov (a trusted representative of putin who has been under EU sanctions since July 2025), purchased not props, but expensive DJI Mavic 3T thermal imaging drones and EW systems—totaling nearly 6 million rubles. The studio officially designated part of the procurement as "charitable aid for the needs of the 'special military operation.'"  
In the Leningrad Region, several state museums (including the Vyborg Museum-Reserve and Monrepos Park) also purchased Mavic 3T drones, radio stations, and Starlink kits (total military equipment spending reached over 5 million rubles).  
This serves as further proof that the russian cultural community does not exist separately from the state, but is closely tied to kremlin special services and war criminals.  
russia struck a UNICEF warehouse holding humanitarian aid for Ukrainian children.
In July, a russian attack destroyed over 106,000 units of humanitarian cargo valued at nearly $3.9 million USD. Among the lost items were generators, drinking water supplies, hygiene kits, and other critical supplies for the civilian population, reported Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets.  
Attacks on humanitarian facilities and personnel constitute a grave violation of international humanitarian law. russia must be held accountable for crimes against civilians and international humanitarian missions.

Pro-russian media outlets, including Pravda Polska, Wolne Media, and Myśl Polska, circulate Kremlin narratives about the "reconstruction" of Mariupol while concealing the fact that it was the russian army that destroyed the city. Pro-russian Polish politician Janusz Korwin-Mikke even publicly questioned the russian occupiers' strike on the Mariupol maternity hospital in March 2022.
