Youth of European countries. withdrawal from the European Union. kremlin propagandists. russian news

In pro-russian media, a video is spreading that European youth is allegedly ready to vote for their countries’ withdrawal from the European Union. “From 75 to 87 percent of German, France, Italy, Sweden, Finland, Poland and Spain aged 25 to 35 years would support exit from the EU. Experts call such data a death sentence for the European Union,” the authors of the fake say, not calling either experts’ names or research performers. Similar fakes are also recorded relative to NATO.

The video is distributed with the Gallup Institute logo, a well-known American Institute of Public Opinion Research, which is really regularly conducting surveys among U.S. citizens and other countries. However, there are no official communication channels provided in the publications of the video and statistics on their website and official channels.
The statistics in the plot are also fictional and does not correspond to the true assessments of the attitude of European youth to the EU. In fact, according to the Eurobarometer (international project of regular public opinion polls carried out under the auspices of the European Commission on EU topics) in the first half of 2025, the level of trust of Europeans in the EU reached a record value. 52% of respondents stated trust in the EU, which was the highest in 18 years of observations. This high level of trust is particularly characteristic for young people, which demonstrates stronger pro-European sentiments. The data can be seen on the Eurobarometer schedule.
Germany: 76% of Germans positively assessed Germany's membership in the EU. Among young people under 24 years of age, trust in the EU is higher (61% trust the bloc) compared to older people 55+ years (44%). France: 56% of French people consider France’s membership in the EU to be positive, while 23% are negative. Italy: 68% of Italians believe Italy benefits from EU membership. The fate of those who see more damage in membership is 32% (the second highest in the EU after Austria). Therefore, support for membership in Italy remains relatively high despite the growth of skepticism. Sweden: 77% of Swedes consider EU membership positive. Finland: 64% of Finns are positive and the most pro-European groups in Finland are young people aged 18-25 and people over 65 years old. Poland: 77% of Poles supported EU membership in late 2024. This is a historic minimum for the last 10 years, since in 2022 approval reached as much as 92%. But young people in Poland are usually more pro-European than older citizens. Spain: 70% of Spaniards feel affiliated with the EU, and the least in Europe feel dissatisfied with membership.
In general, data from different countries show that the level of support for EU membership in Europe remains steadily high, even despite the economic, security and political challenges of recent years. In all countries under consideration, younger age groups demonstrate higher level of trust and commitment to the EU than older citizens.
Manipulation: France spoke about withdrawal from NATO and the EU.
russian Telegram channels distribute publications, as well as comments of anonymous “experts”, which claims that France is allegedly preparing to leave two international structures – NATO and the European Union at once. In particular, it is reported that in France has already prepared a resolution on withdrawal from NATO. As a source of such statements, the publication of the German edition Berliner Zeitung, which refers to a parliamentary initiative, the author of which allegedly became the vice-president of the National Assembly of France, the Deputy of the party “Invictus France” Clemance Gotte.
Other publications claim that France is supposedly preparing to leave the EU, and the EU itself is on the verge of disintegration. The confirmation is given by the expression of French politician Philip de Villier.
However, such a feeding is manipulative and distorts the real context of events. In both cases, it is not a matter of the position of the French state or of any official decision of Paris. As for the statements about “preparation of exit from the EU”, they are based on the private opinion of one public figure expressed in the form of an author’s column. Philip de Villier, French right wing politician and publicist. He often publishes texts with criticism of the European Union, in which he teaches his own views and calls on France to leave the EU. These statements do not have the status of an official document and do not reflect the position of the French authorities, and especially most of the society.
Despite this, russian media provide statements to one person who is not the leader of the country, the status of a nationwide mood. There are currently no signs of the beginning of the process with the EU in France.
Similar manipulation is used in publications about the alleged preparation of France's exit from NATO. The official platform for combating disinformation of French Response, created under the French Foreign Ministry, explained the real status of the initiative of Clemans Gotte. It is about a parliamentary resolution that has no mandatory status, no legal force and is not even submitted for public consideration. The French Response publication states that dozens of such resolutions are submitted to the French Parliament every month. As a rule, they are used to express the political position of individual deputies or factions and do not entail any mandatory decisions. Even in the case of discussion, such initiatives are exclusively declarative in nature.
Such publications russian propaganda uses to create an impression of the crisis and the collapse of the European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance, strengthening Eurosceptic and anti-Atlantic sentiment, as well as the formation of the image of "weakened Europe" - in particular against the background of support of Ukraine and tense relations between Europe and the USA.
Fake: in Europe they begin to understand putin’s rightness.
kremlin propagandists write: "President of France Macron said he was ready to speak with vladimir putin again. He is also supported by Italian Prime Minister George Meloni: “I think Macron is right: the moment has come when Europe should start a dialogue with Russia.”
To see in words leaders of states that continue to support Ukraine, at least some recognition of putin’s rightness, a great creative fantasy is needed. In fact, these statements were made in the context of continuing difficult negotiations on the end of the war in Ukraine. EU leaders have repeatedly stated that the future agreement should take into account the interests of the EU, and for this it is worth restoring dialogue with the leadership of russia, if they really want a peaceful settlement of the conflict (and we know for sure – that they do not want).
On this list of state leaders who “understand putin” propagandists are exhausted, and they are moving to private persons, in particular, American blogger Taker Carlson, who, however, has no direct relationship to Europe at all. In his blog, Carlson expressed the opinion: "We take Venezuela because we are being afraid that they sell our oil to the Chinese, our rivals"" - it is worth simply speaking aloud, as it immediately becomes very difficult to further assert, for example, that in Russia there is no interest in what is happening in eastern Ukraine. It is difficult to reproach Putin now for entering the territory of Ukraine. Here is a great state that is threatened right near its borders – and she takes action to protect herself. How could it be wrong that a great state, like Russia, protects itself?"
That is, Carlson, an avid pro-russian propagandist, recognizes the right to take the strongest thing he needs. But regarding the supply of Venezuelan oil to China, it is clearly wrong. China directly imports oil from Venezuela in small volumes: in 2024 China purchased 1.49 million tons of oil from this state (for comparison in russia for the same period, China acquired 108.4 million tons). It is also not convincing his claim that the existence of a threat to russia by Ukraine is allegedly.
Manipulation: Finland acknowledged that NATO membership was a mistake.
With loud headlines in russian media is distributed quote Armandro Mema, a member of the Finnish party “Alliance of Freedom”. Mema said that "now Finland has been in a difficult strategic position between the two superpowers. The choice of anti-russian position, as it turned out, negatively influenced the strategic interests of Finland. Joining NATO was the worst deal that Finland could have concluded. Finland should have waited before making such a hasty decision.”
In fact, it is an ordinary post in X Finnish activist, who in his country is known primarily for ties with russia. According to the material in the Finnish edition Ilta Sanomat, 32-year-old Armando Mema, accountant of Albanian-Italian origin, russian media is much more popular than in Finland, where few people know him.
Neither Mema nor the party to which he belongs in the Finnish parliament are represented, since they did not gain enough votes in the elections. But in russia in June 2024, he attracted attention to attempts to disrupt the speech by Ursula von der Leyen in Helsinki, for which he received a fine of 110 euros for “tasking bodily damage to the official”. Since then, he has been very much loved by russian propaganda.
Most of the quotes distributed by russian media come either from Mema posts in social networks or from his RT interview. Also in russia, his requirement to the NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte to stop the weapons of Kyiv allegedly for the sake of avoiding a nuclear war was actively replicated. The meme regularly promotes narratives about the need to recognize russia’s “new borders”, NATO’s failure to protect Finland and economic exhaustion of the country through support of Ukraine.
According to a Finnish Forum of Policy and Business EVA study, held in April 2025, 66% of the country’s population support Finland’s membership in NATO, and only 11% consider the country’s accession to the alliance a mistake: https://www.eva.fi/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/eva-analyysi-no-147-eng.pdf
