Senator Lindsey Graham, visited Kyiv, Western diplomats, russian fake

Pro-russian media, citing Politico, are spreading news claiming that following the sudden death of U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham—who had visited Kyiv shortly before and defended Ukrainian interests before Trump—a number of Western diplomats immediately canceled their planned visits to Ukraine. According to the propagandists, European politicians allegedly panicked, fearing they would become the next target.

In reality, no article containing such claims exists on the Politico website. Similar information has not been published in other leading Western media outlets either. No official representative of Western diplomatic services has announced the cancellation of trips to Ukraine in connection with Graham's death. The media did indeed write extensively about Graham's death in connection with Ukraine, but coverage mostly focused on how it would affect U.S. foreign policy. For instance, the AP editorial board believes that Lindsey Graham's death leaves Kyiv without a key "bridge" to Trump, as Graham was one of the most effective intermediaries between Ukraine and the White House, and his proximity to the President allowed him to push pro-Ukrainian decisions forward. 
Public broadcaster PBS also released a piece on the wave of conspiracy theories on social media triggered by Lindsey Graham's sudden death—the very theories pushed by propagandists in this fake news story. Various users accused russia, Iran, Ukraine, and Israel of his murder. One of the most widely shared posts on X claimed that russia "blew up Graham" right after he visited a drone manufacturing plant in Ukraine and then attacked the facility. Other conspiracy theorists wrote that the senator physically could not have made it from Ukraine to Washington in such a short time, or that the FBI's presence at the senator's home was proof of foul play. However, the preliminary medical examiner's report does not confirm any of these versions: the 73-year-old Graham died as a result of an aortic rupture. The official conclusion will be announced after toxicological and microscopic examinations. The FBI, for its part, is providing standard assistance to local law enforcement—which is routine practice in high-profile deaths. 
In fact, after this tragic event, a number of previously scheduled visits by world and European leaders to Kyiv took place to mark Ukrainian Statehood Day. Among those attending: European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, President of Romania Nicușor Dan, President of Moldova Maia Sandu, President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, and others.
